Emergency
Hospitals or medical examination and treatment facilities are crowded places, and contain many systems that work under high pressure, potentially posing a major risk of fire and explosion. Therefore, ever since Thai Nguyen International Hospital came into operation, the Board of Directors has given very serious direction in fire prevention and fire fighting.
To ensure fire and explosion safety, officials, employees, patients, and patients’ families need to strictly comply with the hospital’s fire safety regulations:

– Do not arbitrarily use electricity, use oxygen systems or oxygen tanks without the consent of the on-site medical care team.
– Do not use sources of fire or heat (hair dryer, iron, etc.); Do not cook or bake in the room or at the treatment site.
– Do not arbitrarily use fire protection equipment or emergency fire alarm buttons when there is no fire or explosion incident… as this will cause confusion, panic, and affect the health of patients being treated.
– Raise the spirit of vigilance and advise everyone to ensure fire safety.
– Shout and notify everyone when a fire or explosion occurs, and join in fighting the fire when possible; Do not gather in large groups because it will lead to the risk of spreading the disease to others.
For medical staff:

– Regularly check conditions to ensure safety when storing and using ventilator systems and breathing oxygen tanks.
– Instruct and arrange for patients and their families to use electricity and electrical consuming devices, fire- and heat-generating devices safely.

– Know how to proficiently use equipped fire protection equipment.
– Participate in learning firefighting plans and patient transportation plans when a fire or explosion occurs.
Equip yourself with escape skills when a fire occurs
Skill 1: Calm
When a fire or explosion occurs, you must calmly identify the fire and smoke source, stabilize your mind and find a way to leave as quickly and safely as possible.
Skill 2: Moving
Smoke in a fire will obstruct visibility. To avoid smoke inhalation and make it easier to see, move out by crawling close to the ground and along the wall to find the fastest escape route. Crawling close to the ground will also help you have more air to breathe, avoiding suffocation from smoke.
If the smoke is coming from above or right in the area, quickly move to the emergency exit and go to the lower floors. If the smoke comes from downstairs, try to move back up to the rooftop to avoid suffocation.
Skill 3: Poison prevention
You should cover your mouth and nose with a towel soaked in water to avoid suffocation, and wrap a blanket soaked in water over your body to avoid burning clothes and skin burns. If possible, use wet blankets or tape to seal door cracks to prevent smoke and toxic gases from entering the room while trying to escape and wait for the firefighters.
Skill 4: Putting out the fire
In case your clothes are on fire, stop moving, lie down and turn over continuously until the fire is extinguished, and cover your face as much as possible. Absolutely do not run because the wind will make the fire burn and spread more.
Be careful when jumping into swimming pools or lakes in the fire area because it is likely that the fire has heated the water, which can cause burns to the whole body when jumping in.
Skill 5: Call for help
When a fire occurs in a high building, you need to move out to the balcony or window and call loudly for help. Besides, to attract everyone’s attention, use brightly colored scarves, shirts, and hats to call for help and signal.
At the same time, call the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police at 114. This is a free emergency line. All firefighting, rescue and relief work has been paid for by the state, without any cost to the people.
Skill 6: Opening the doors
If you want to open the door during a fire, you need to carefully check the temperature of the door first. When opening the door, you need to step aside to avoid fire splashing on you.
If you cannot find a safe way out or get help from others, you can escape from a window, balcony or jump over to the roof next door. To temporarily avoid and wait for the rescue team to arrive. Absolutely do not hide in the toilet because this is a place where you can easily suffocate due to the closed space.
Skill 7: Escape
When exiting the fire area, absolutely do not jostle or push, do not use the elevator to escape because in the event of a fire or explosion the power source will be cut off so the elevator will stop. You need to calmly move along the stairs.
Skill 8: Cooperation
When a fire occurs, you must stay calm and pay attention to follow the instructions of the fire prevention and fighting police force and rescue team.
The subjects serving medical examination and treatment are humans, so ensuring security, safety and fire and explosion prevention is always given special attention and direction by the leaders of Thai Nguyen International Hospital. The hospital always focuses and pays attention to fire prevention work and invites specialized units to inspect and evaluate the current status of the hospital’s existing fire prevention facilities in order to come up with solutions to perform fire prevention work well.
