YEN BINH THAI NGUYEN GENERAL HOSPITAL: LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY FOR LARGE TWISTED RIGHT OVARIAN CYST REMOVAL

      Recently, the obstetrics and gynecology department at Yen Binh General Hospital in Thai Nguyen successfully performed a laparoscopic surgery to remove a large twisted right ovarian cyst.

      The patient, L.T.D, 42 years old from Linh Son, Thai Nguyen City, was admitted to the hospital with severe lower abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. After examination and ultrasound, a cystic structure measuring 14cm x 12.6cm x 10cm was discovered in her right ovary, showing homogenous echo with posterior enhancement and thin walls. She was diagnosed with a twisted right ovarian cyst and scheduled for laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy.

The surgery was performed by the team led by Specialist doctor level 2 Hoang Thi Kim Ngan, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Yen Binh General Hospital. After five days of postoperative care, Ms. D’s health stabilized.

Specialist doctor level 2 Hoang Thi Kim Ngan explained that a twisted ovarian cyst is an acute complication of ovarian cysts. Severe pain and shock can occur if the cyst is not surgically removed in time, potentially leading to necrosis and rupture, causing massive bleeding and endangering the patient’s life. Twisted ovarian cysts often occur in cases of large cysts.

Doctor advises women of childbearing age to undergo regular gynecological health examinations every six months to detect early signs of abnormalities for timely treatment and to avoid dangerous complications.
