SCIENTIFIC WORKSHOP ON UPDATING DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF HYPERTENSION AND ON CLINICAL CASE USING FIXED-DOSE COMBINATION THERAPY

       Recently, Thai Nguyen International Hospital, a subsidiary of TNH Hospital Group JSC in collaboration with the Vietnam National Heart Institute, organized a scientific workshop on “Updating Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypertension: Clinical Case Using Fixed-Dose Combination Therapy”. The workshop featured M.D. Nguyen Quoc Thai from the Vietnam National Heart Institute – Bach Mai Hospital, along with numerous doctors and healthcare professionals from hospitals under TNH Hospital Group JSC.

      At the workshop, M.D. Nguyen Quoc Thai presented important updates from the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) 2024 conference. Key topics included recommendations and various methods for measuring blood pressure (clinic measurements, home monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring); assessing the patient’s condition based on the severity of hypertension, clinical scenarios, and individual patient needs; initial hypertension management strategies aimed at controlling blood pressure within three months based on patient’s risk; selecting treatment methods, risk stratification according to the stages of hypertension; implementing lifestyle interventions along with related factors and prescriptions; evaluating responses towards the goal of blood pressure control (initial three months), establishing optimal blood pressure control (short-term monitoring from three months to one year), and maintaining optimal blood pressure control (long-term monitoring over one year).

Successfully implementing these treatment guidelines for hypertension will significantly improve healthcare, raise awareness about health protection, and mitigate the risks associated with hypertension in patients.

Also at the workshop, M.Med. Nguyen Thi Nhung, from the Internal Medicine Department of Thai Nguyen International Hospital, presented a case of a patient with a history of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and dyslipidemia. She detailed the patient approach, diagnosis, and treatment with the goal of long-term blood pressure control and cardiovascular protection. For this case, M.Med. Nguyen Thi Nhung applied the ESH 2023 hypertension treatment strategy using a fixed-dose combination of three drugs: Perindopril/Indapamide/Amlodipine. The patient’s blood pressure was well controlled, demonstrating the effectiveness of this combination therapy.

Prior to the workshop, M.D. Nguyen Quoc Thai conducted direct consultations on several cases related to hypertension treatment at Thai Nguyen International Hospital.

The scientific workshop on “Updating Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypertension: Clinical Case Using Fixed-Dose Combination Therapy” provided continuous medical education for doctors and healthcare staff from hospitals under TNH Corporation, enhancing their ability to diagnose and treat hypertension patients effectively. This workshop is one of many initiatives at TNH aimed at improving the quality of its medical workforce and ultimately providing the best possible patient care.
