When Is Surgery Needed?

Not every case requires surgery. However, surgical treatment may be recommended when:

• There is a risk of progressive retinal damage.

In such cases, pars plana vitrectomy with epiretinal membrane peeling (Vitrectomy) is considered an effective treatment. The procedure removes the tractional membrane, relieves retinal distortion, and helps improve visual function.
