CẤP CỨU BỆNH NHÂN VIÊM TUỴ CẤP HOẠT TỬ DO BIA RƯỢU: CẢNH BÁO SỨC KHOẺ MÙA LỄ TẾT

The Department of General Internal Medicine – TNH Pho Yen Hospital has recently admitted and treated a severe case of acute necrotizing pancreatitis, directly related to prolonged alcohol consumption.

The 44-year-old male patient was admitted in a critical condition with severe epigastric abdominal pain accompanied by marked fatigue. Clinical examination and laboratory tests revealed extremely elevated blood lipid levels, with triglycerides reaching 18 mmol/L and cholesterol 14 mmol/L. Notably, the patient had a long-standing habit of frequent alcohol consumption, which was identified as the direct cause of his condition.

Abdominal computed tomography (CT scan) showed severe acute necrotizing pancreatitis (Balthazar grade E – CTSI score of 8), a condition associated with a high risk of serious complications and potentially life-threatening outcomes if not treated promptly.

Thanks to timely emergency care and intensive treatment following standard protocols, the patient has passed the critical phase and his condition has stabilized. However, physicians emphasize that acute pancreatitis, especially pancreatitis caused by alcohol use and dyslipidemia, carries a high risk of recurrence if patients do not change their lifestyle and dietary habits.

Sharing insights on acute pancreatitis, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Dao, MD, MSc – Head of the Department of General Internal Medicine, TNH Pho Yen Hospital – stated:

“Acute pancreatitis is a dangerous condition with rapid progression and can lead to many serious complications. Alcohol consumption is one of the leading causes of pancreatitis. During holidays and festive seasons, increased alcohol intake significantly raises the risk of both onset and recurrence of acute pancreatitis. People should strictly limit alcohol consumption, control blood lipid levels, maintain a healthy diet, and seek medical attention promptly when experiencing unusual abdominal pain.”

Doctors advise the community not to be complacent about abdominal pain symptoms, especially individuals with a history of alcohol use or metabolic disorders. Early medical examination and timely treatment are crucial in reducing complications and protecting long-term health.
